He is a sought-after national speaker who has delivered keynotes and served on panels for organizations including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health, and the Society of Public Health Executives. In 2018, he was honored to serve as a student commencement keynote speaker at Dartmouth College.
Deep Roots in Our Community
Drew's commitment to Champaign-Urbana extends well beyond Hope Village. He serves on various boards, connecting local healthcare leadership to the broader work of caring for our community. He also contributes his expertise to Salt N Light and advises the Health Sciences Department at Chicago State University.
These relationships matter. They reflect Drew's belief that lasting change happens when we work together—across public agencies, healthcare systems, nonprofits, and neighbors who simply want to help.
A Shared Vision for Hope Village
Drew understands that housing and health are inseparable. His years of work on Medicaid strategy and the social determinants of health have shown him, again and again, that a safe place to call home changes everything—especially for individuals who are medically fragile and have cycled through the shelter system without a permanent solution.
Under Drew's leadership, Hope Village is being built on that understanding. It is a community grounded in dignity, care, and partnership, designed to serve as many of our neighbors as possible as it prepares to welcome its first residents in Fall 2026.

"When our neighbors are housed and cared for, all of Champaign-Urbana is stronger. Hope Village is our shared invitation to build that future together."
— Drew Martin, Executive Director
